Silver Galaxi Award for Skip The Sound Barrier
Thanks to its high quality, the Productions 10th Ave documentary, , broadcast on RDI television, won the Silver Galaxi award for best information show on Tuesday night at the awards ceremony for the Canadian Cable Telecommunications Association (CCTA), an event that honours excellence in local, educational or specialized programming.
This documentary by journalist, director and producer, Nancy Savard and her partner and co-director Sophie Bégin, explores the technological innovations involved in cochlear implants. Thanks to the collaboration of Dr. Pierre Ferron and his team, and Québec celebrities such as the renowned singer and director René Simard, his wife, television host Marie-Josée Taillefer, and their children, Olivier and Rosalie, both of whom received implants, this documentary sheds light on this technological innovation with panache. It also attracted a large audience each time it was broadcast.
“This prize encourages us to continue developing this production area, which focuses on the efforts of local creators and innovations in documentaries destined for national and international broadcast”, stated Nancy Savard, who is currently filming her next documentary, entitled The Intelligence of the Bionic Leg, which will feature the creator of the motorized leg, Stéphane Bédard, and former Québec Premier, Lucien Bouchard.
