Quebec City, May 2, 2025 – Today, a fantastic animation team ended its principal work on 10th Ave Productions’ sixth 3D feature film: Lydia and the Mist Rider, directed by the trio of Emilie Rosas, Philippe Arseneau Bussières and Nancy Florence Savard. Based in Quebec City, under the leadership of Yann Tremblay at 10th Ave Animation, the team of animators worked for many months to breathe life into the numerous characters imagined by screenwriter Emilie Rosas and art director Philippe Arseneau Bussières.

As soon as certain key scenes had gone through post-production on an accelerated basis, producer and co-director Nancy Florence Savard hurried to Studio Élément and Studio Expression to assemble a teaser trailer in order to provide the distribution team at Attraction Distribution and 10th Ave Studio with the first finished images of Lydia and the Mist Rider, which will be presented at the Cannes Film Market.

“Members of our various teams are saying that Lydia and the Mist Rider is without doubt the most ambitious animated feature that 10th Ave Productions has produced to date,” declares producer Nancy Florence Savard. “It’s fair to say that never before have we produced a film containing so many different special effects. Because we’re dealing with a fantasy, animating a sailing ship that navigates on a sea of mist and characters who practise astromagic creates contexts that are sometimes complex. In short, we can say that Emilie Rosas’ first feature-length animation screenplay was ambitious by Quebec standards. We had to be creative,” the producer-director says with a smile. “But the story is so fascinating and so moving, we had to be daring!”

10th Ave’s sixth animated feature, Lydia and the Mist Rider will be presented by Xiaojuan Zhou of Attraction Distribution at the Riviera C10 stand, and by Nancy Florence Savard and Nadja Leblanc at the Quebec Creative Pavilion.

The screenplay of Lydia and the Mist Rider is freely adapted from two novels by Yves Meynard: Le Vaisseau des tempêtes (The Storm Vessel) and Le prince des Glaces (The Ice Prince), published by Les Éditions Médiapaul.

Release is planned for the first quarter of 2026. The film was produced with financial support from La Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (Sodec), Telefilm Canada, The Canada Media Fund, the City of Québec, Shaw Rocket Fund, Harolds Greenberg fund, Quebec Investment, the Government of Canada, Crave, the Radio-Canada Corporation, Attraction Distribution, Maison 4 :3, 10th Ave Studio and 10th Ave Productions.
