Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Tuesday, July 29, 2025 – As the 10th Ave team leaves for a well-deserved summer vacation, the national distribution company Maison 4:3 is delighted to announce the theatrical release date for the animated feature film Lydia and the Mist Rider. This fantasy film, the sixth production from 10th Ave, will be appearing on Canadian screens as of February 20, 2026, just in time for spring break.
Produced from Émilie Rosas’s first feature-length screenplay, Lydia and the Mist Rider is a 3D animated feature in the fantasy genre. It has three directors: Émilie Rosas and Philippe Arseneau Bussières, for both of whom this is the first full-length directing credit, as well as experienced feature director Nancy Florence Savard.
“10th Ave’s animated features have always been released theatrically during spring break, and the tradition continues with our sixth 100% Canadian production. From The Legend of Sarila, which came out in 2013, to Katak the Brave Beluga, launched in 2023, spring break has been the moment of choice to offer our animated works to families in our home market,” notes 10th Ave’s producer and director, Nancy Florence Savard.

Émilie and Philippe are hugely talented and committed, and they’re also very agreeable companions, which is important when you’re working together for over a hundred intense weeks,” concludes 10th Ave’s producer and director, Nancy Florence Savard.
Outline of the film
Lydia and the Mist Rider (French title: Lydia et le vaisseau des tempêtes) transports us to a completely fantastic world. When her older brother Thaddeus is mysteriously abducted by the Spellbinder, 11-year-old Lydia sets out to find him in the Misty Sea. Picked up by the crew of an airborne sailing ship called the Dolphin, Lydia is apprenticed to Ambrosia, an astromagician. Ambrosia is searching for other children who have disappeared, including her own son. Determined to solve the mystery, Lydia will need to learn astromagic, and she’ll need to learn to trust herself. With heart and spirit, she will have to confront the Spellbinder.
The screenplay by Émilie Rosas is freely adapted from two novels by Yves Meynard: Le vaisseau des tempêtes (The Storm Vessel) and Le prince des glaces (The Ice Prince), published by Éditions Médiaspaul.
The production of this sixth animated feature film by 10th Ave was made possible thanks to the support of Telefilm Canada, SODEC, The Canada Media Fund, the City of Québec, the Shaw Rocket Fund, Bell Media/Crave, the Radio-Canada Corporation, the Harold Greenberg Fund and Investment Québec, as well as the Quebec and Canadian tax credit programs.
