With the experience and skills acquired through creation and production of 156 episodes of the 2D animation comedy series W, Nancy Savard, 10th Ave producer, is taking up a new challenge with her talented team composed of Pierre Greco, co-screenwriter and director; Christian Daigle, art director; and Philippe B\u00e9gin, leader of the animation team at Frima Studio. They are all currently developing the script for the movie St-Victor\u2019s Rooster and its imagery with Johanne Mercier, author of the book St-Victor\u2019s Rooster and co-screenwriter.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition to taking on a feature-length animation with this team,\u201d Savard noted, \u201cwe are hoping that this project will enable us to explore possible parameters for digital distribution, and I\u2019m certain that this movie, with its specific humour and style, will find an audience in Europe as well as Quebec.\u201d Savard has just returned from spending a week viewing featurelength animations at the prestigious Festival d\u2019animation d\u2019Annecy competition. \u201cThe style of Le coq de St-Victor will be Marcel Pagnol meets Chuck Jones.\u201d, adds the co-screenwriter and director Pierre Greco.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight now in France, there is excitement about the delocalization of production to the regions, and there are a number of ways to provide local funding for low-budget animation films,\u201d Ms. Savard continued. \u201cWe are hoping to reproduce that model here, and to make movies for a young audience in Quebec that is crazy about animation and movies but that too often sees only dubbed foreign films.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
St-Victor\u2019s Rooster, an adaptation of Le Coq de San Vito, published by \u00c9ditions Dominique et Cie, is a delicious and award-winning story that has captivated young readers in Quebec. We hope that the movie will do the same.<\/p>\n
